Welcome to my SMUGMUG photo site.
I have been using SMUGMUG for several years. It is the best online photo site. Its a great way to share your photos with friends and relatives at home and overseas. I am gradually adding albums to this site. I find it very useful for sharing photos taken on wildflower tours that I lead for Coates Wildlife Tours. There is a small charge to establish and maintain SMUGMUG site but it is well worthwhile, many of the free sites allow a lot of rubbish to be displayed. Grizzly Bears of Knight Inlet. : On a recent visit to Vancouver Island in June 2007 we had the wonderful opportunity to spend a few days at Telegraph Cove, a tourist Mecca on the north east side the island. A day excursion with Rip Tide Grizzly Tours took us to see grizzzly bears of Knight Inlet. You will see from the map that the tour takes us across the Johnstone Strait across to the mainland of British Columbia and up the Knight Straight to Glendale Cove. Map and Bear facts are from the brochure distributed by Tide Rip Grizzly Tours, www.grizzlycanada.com It is a two hour journey by fast boat to reach Glendale Cove. This mostly uninhabited location is accessible only by boat or floatplane. By boat it is a scenic journey with an ever changing landscape as you pass islands and snow capped mountains with moving clouds and rain showers. After sighting our first bear, a mother and cub and taking photos from a distance we moved round the cove and transferred to a small boat to move in closer to two bears foraging along the shore line. Instructions from the skipper was no noise, no sudden movement as we moved in close to watch and photograph. It was a wonderful experience to see these huge animals in the wild. It is an excursion not to be missed if you are visiting British Columbia. Telegraph Cove is also a centre for Whale Watching and Kayak excursions with a range of accommodation and activities. AFS. Student Exchange : AFS is a worldwide International student exchange organisation. In 2002 our daughter Miriam went to Costa Rica. In 2003 we hosted Yuribeth from Panama and in 2004 we are hosting Daniela from Chile. August 2004, Daniella has returned to Chile. Excursion Easter 2004 : At Easter we went to Chas Darwin Reserve, an Australian Bush Heritage property near Paynes Find. Western Australia. A former pastoral property of more than 68,000 hectares, located on the transition line between eucalypt and mulga country. We spent 3 days there and then travelled on to Shark Bay and Monkey Mia. Five days at Monkey Mia gave us time to see dolphins, explore Peron Station, participate in guided walks and time with friends. We travelled back via Kalbarri with a visit to the National Park and the some time doing tourist things in Geraldton.

Fishing at the Monte Bello Islands. July 2003 : These photos were taken on a trip to the Montebello Islands off the NW coast of Western Australia. The Montebellos were the site of atomic tests by the British in the 1950s. In recent years they have been opened for recreation use. My son Justin and I went with Barry Winterbourne and his son Benson. We sailed from Onslow on the Warrior Princess which was our base for the five days fishing. These photographs show only a small part of that excursion. The fishing was great and most time we were too busy fishing to take pictures.
